Our web based professional courses can be reached from any kind of device, around the clock, so that you can study at a time that suits you. Classes are offered as “facilitated”, which means an industry professional guides you through the lessons, or alternatively in a self-paced format (giving you constant access to a specialist to answer your queries.) You get lifetime course access so you can return to them time and again in order to bring fresh new teaching techniques to your classrooms. You’ll also earn graduate credits or professional development points (PDPs) that you’re able to put towards your training.

Our online courses were also designed to meet with the Common Core State Standards.

Why Choose Commonwealth Learning Online Institute?

Commonwealth Learning Online Institute is the newest division of the Stratford Foundation Inc., a nonprofit educational institution established in 1986 to become an academic learning resource for the district of Massachusetts. They then set about delivering on-site education for students, together with classes for educators so they were able to enhance their development as professionals. Once the internet made it feasible for educators with time restrictions to do online courses at their leisure, CLOI was developed to fill this need.

It was then that we searched for universities who’d join with us and offer graduate credits that could be used by students. The first to join was Gordon College, and in 2012 our first 6 courses became available. Presently the credit universities have grown to include MidAmerica Nazarene University and Westfield State University.

These internet courses are readily available by any PC or mobile device including tablets and laptops. No matter whether you’re a Massachusetts school administrator, principal, superintendent or curriculum director, you can do a Commonwealth Learning Online Institute course in a group or individually dependant on your school’s requirements. I matters not how much experience you have teaching, these online courses will broaden your teaching skills and development.

More About Online Commonwealth Learning Online Institute Courses

Right now we offer reading courses both in self-taught and facilitated formats. Online courses for writing and special education are being designed. Our courses help educators of all grades from foundational level right up to the 12th grade. The techniques for learning presented in each online course should successfully ready your students for college and further education.

The Differences Between Self-Paced Vs. Facilitated Courses for Teachers in Massachusetts

Our self-paced training courses may be accomplished in accordance with your routine. There aren’t any dates for finishing the lessons; you can study them when it suits you. An experienced facilitator is always on hand to resolve any queries or issues that may crop up. They’ll also give you a grade mark if you are taking the training for graduate credits. The self-paced courses take somewhere between 8 and 15 hrs to do and students earn 1/2 to one PDP credit. These are available to take all year round. The online facilitated training courses, however, give a more organized solution. Think of them as in-depth workshop training in a chosen area over a seven week time period. A professional, facilitator directs the course and establishes objectives and expectations that students should satisfy weekly. Such facilitated courses should take somewhere around fifty to seventy hours to complete and earn three graduate credits or 36 PDPs. They take place in January, March, May, July, and September.

All our online products present many teaching illustrations that you could use in your classroom lessons.

Teacher Testimonial

It is amazing that I have been in the field for so long…and am learning these fascinating skills or techniques. I think that even middle and high school trained teachers should have MORE exposure to these foundations. I feel like I was denied a wealth of information due to the fact that I was trained as a middle and high school literature and humanities teacher.
