Commonwealth Learning Online Institute was established in 2010 when we noticed that overstretched teachers needed a more convenient way of getting access to the training classes that we at that time taught on-site. We are proud to be a branch of the Stratford Foundation Inc. which was established in 1986 to assist students of every age group beat their learning struggles, particularly in reading and writing. We partnered with an educational organization who helped us to form our first six core reading facilitated courses.

We then hunted for universities who’d join with us and offer graduate credit for our students. Gordon College was the first to join, and our first six courses went public in 2012. At this time our credit offering universities have expanded to include MidAmerica Nazarene University and Westfield State University.

The Differences Between Self-Paced Vs. Facilitated Courses for Educators in Georgia

We offer 2 course options to match how much instruction and structure you desire. The self-paced training courses offer much more convenience since you progress through them in your own time. It’s not necessary to finish one lesson by a particular date before progressing to the next. Nevertheless, an experienced facilitator is available to e-mail with your concerns or questions. These courses don’t take so long, usually needing between eight and fifteen hours of study to accomplish. The facilitated internet courses convey more comprehensive training and will take roughly 7 weeks to finish. Unlike the self-paced option, you’re asked to complete each lesson by a certain date before moving on to the next. A specialist, facilitator takes the class through the training and sets goals that participants should attain before progressing. Such facilitated courses take between fifty and seventy hours to do. Facilitated courses occur five times per year between January and September.
