Why Choose CLOI?

CLOI is the latest division of Stratford Foundation Inc., a non-profit educational organization formed in 1986 to become an educational learning resource for the district of White Plains, New York. The Stratford Foundation then set about delivering on-site educational instruction for students, and classes for educators so that they could enhance their professional development. Once the world wide web gave the chance for teachers with little time to spare to do training courses at leisure in their own homes, Commonwealth Learning Online Institute was founded to fulfill this need.

We brought out the very first facilitated public courses (6 in all) in 2012 after reaching a lucrative deal with Gordon College to provide our teachers with graduate credits. Presently we are proud to include the likes of MidAmerica Nazarene University and Westfield State University in our list of institutions offering graduate credits.

Our online courses are easily available via computer or mobile device such as laptops and tablets. More About Online Commonwealth Learning Online Institute Courses

We currently deliver online courses in both self-paced and facilitated formats. Online courses for writing and special education are being designed. Our training helps tutors of all grades from foundational level up through the 12th grade. The solutions for learning presented in each of the courses will prepare your students for college and further education.

Your Decision: Self-Paced Vs. Facilitated Courses

Our self-paced courses can be progressed in line with your timetable. There are no specified dates for finishing the lessons; you can study them when you’ve got the time. A trained facilitator is on hand to answer any questions or concerns that may come up. They’ll also provide you with a grading mark if you’re doing the course for credits. The self-paced online courses take somewhere between eight and 15 hours to accomplish and earn students a half to one credit. They are available to take at any time. The facilitated courses, in contrast, give a little more structure. Think of them as in-depth workshop training in a selected subject area over a seven week time period. A trained, masters-level facilitator directs the course and sets goals and expectations that students should satisfy each week. These courses should take anywhere between 50 and 70 hours to finish and will earn you 3 graduate credits or 36 PDPs. They’re offered in Jan, Mar, May, July and Sept.

Online Course Topics

Some of our current online courses include Close Reading, Instructing Phonics and Spelling, Integrating Five Key Reading Skills and Vocabulary Building. They’ll reveal to you how you can help your students grasp the interconnection between the sound of spoken words with words on a page, expand their vocabulary, improve fluency, and even more than this. Our series of courses were formulated by education executives for teachers and tutors. They provide a lot of illustrations that you’re able to include into your classes.

Earn Graduate Credits or White Plains Professional Development Points

Each individual facilitated course will earn you three graduate credits or 36 PDPs which you can use for the development of your career. The self-paced formats earn you 1/2 or one grad credit.
