CLOI offers 2 options for online courses to match how much structure and instruction you want. The self-paced courses provide much more convenience since you progress through them when you have the time. You’re not required to complete any lesson by a particular date before moving on. Nevertheless, a trained facilitator is on hand to e-mail with any concerns or queries. Self-paced study courses are also shorter, usually requiring somewhere between 8 and 15 hrs of study to finish. Our facilitated courses deliver more comprehensive training and take approximately 7 weeks to finish. In contrast to the self-paced courses, you are required to complete each lesson by a certain date before moving on to the next. A trained, instructor/facilitator leads the class through the course and establishes goals which participants need to reach before continuing with the course. Such facilitated courses take somewhere between fifty and seventy hours to complete. Facilitated format courses are offered 5 times throughout the year between Jan and Sept.

Course Topics in Reading

Our current online reading instruction courses focus on Integrating Five Key Reading Skills, Close Reading, Building Vocabulary and Instructing Spelling and Phonetics. They’re crafted to help you introduce your students to new ways of understanding the correlation between the sound of spoken words with words on a page, and also to become speedier readers. All of our online programs present a lot of teaching recommendations that you can apply to your own classroom lessons.

Earn Continuing Education Credits For Your Professional Development
