The History of CLOI Troy

Commonwealth Learning Online Institute is the latest division of the Stratford Foundation Inc., a non-profit educational organization formed in 1986 with the intention of becoming an educational learning resource for the community of Troy, NY. They then started offering on-site educational instruction for students, as well as training courses for teachers and educators so they could advance their development as professionals. As soon as the internet made it viable for busy educators pressed for time to take training courses in the comfort of their own home, Commonwealth Learning Online Institute was developed to fill this need for literacy teachers.

We introduced our initial 6 facilitated public courses in 2012 after we negotiated a deal with Gordon College to our clients with graduate credits. Nowadays we’re extremely pleased to include the likes of Westfield State University and MidAmerica Nazarene University in our credit offering universities.

Our courses are readily available online via a laptop, tablet, desktop, or any other mobile device. They are appropriate for Troy, New York school principals, superintendents, administrators and curriculum directors and may be utilized individually or in groups depending on the needs of your district or school. No matter where you are in your teaching development, our online courses expand your knowledge and sharpen your teaching skills.

More Information On Online CLOI Courses

Presently we deliver reading courses both in self-paced and facilitated set-ups. Online special education and writing courses are being developed. Our courses help tutors of all levels from foundational level right up to the 12th grade. The learning processes learnt in each of the courses will successfully ready your scholars for college and life.

Facilitated Vs. Self Paced Courses

CLOI offers two options for online courses depending on just how much structure and instruction you are seeking. Self-paced courses deliver a lot more convenience as you progress whenever you have the time. You’re not required to finish one lesson before a particular date before moving on. However, a trained facilitator is always on hand to email with any queries or concerns. Such study courses don’t take so long, typically needing between eight and 15 hrs to finish. Our facilitated courses provide more in-depth training and will take around 7 weeks to do. Compared with the self-paced courses, you’re required to complete a lesson by a certain date before progressing. A professional, masters-level facilitator leads the class through the course and establishes targets that participants should achieve before progressing to the next lesson. Our facilitated courses take anywhere between 50 and 70 hours to finish. Facilitated courses are available five times each year from January to September.
