CLOI’s Journey

In 1986, the Stratford Foundation Inc. was formed with the goal of becoming a valuable educational resource for the community. After establishing the Commonwealth Learning Center in 1988 and the Professional Training Institute in 1992, Stratford came into the 21st century in 2010 when CLOI, the Commonwealth Learning Online Institute, was formed.

Since our early days we have increased our offerings and university partners to meet the needs of educators nationwide. Today our program includes both self-paced and facilitated courses, and our credit offering institutions have expanded to include Gordon College, Westfield State University, and MidAmerica Nazarene University.

After nearly a decade, our commitment to being a valuable professional development resource for the community is stronger than ever, and we work towards this everyday by providing exceptional learning for educators across the country.

CLOI was formed in 2010 to provide practical online development to educators and teachers. Our course development commenced when we partnered with a vetted educational enterprise. They helped us to create six core reading facilitated courses.

Our next step was to combine with a few universities to be able to provide graduate credits for our students. The initial courses (6) went public in 2012. Currently, the credit offering universities include the likes of Gordon College, Westfield State University and MidAmerica Nazarene University.

More About CLOI Courses for Raleigh, North Carolina Teachers

Presently we offer you online courses in both facilitated and self-paced formats. Online courses for special education and writing are under development. This unique training aids teachers of all levels from foundational level up through the 12th grade. The techniques for learning studied in each course should successfully ready your pupils for college and further education.

Self-Paced Vs. Facilitated Courses

The facilitated courses provide in-depth training in a particular topic over a seven week time period. A specialist, facilitator leads the students through it week by week, establishing expectations to satisfy as each lesson is finished. Our training courses will take about 50 to 70 hours to finish and will earn you three graduate credits or 36 PDPs. Our facilitated format courses are offered five times per year: Jan, Mar, May, July and Sept. Self-paced internet courses offer you more flexibility as you finish them whenever you have the time. A trained facilitator is always on hand to resolve your questions by e mail and will also provide marking if you are doing the program for graduate credit. Self-paced internet courses take between 8 and 15 hrs to finish and earn participants a half to one credit.

Online Course Topics in Reading

Among our current online reading courses are Integrating 5 Key Reading Skills, Building Vocabulary, Instructing Spelling and Phonetics and Close Reading. They are going to explain how you can help your students grasp the link between the sound of spoken words with written words on a page, expand their vocabulary, increase fluency, and even more than this. Our study courses were put together by educational executives for teachers in the classroom. They include many ideas which you’re able to integrate into your classroom.

Raleigh, North Carolina Continuing Education Credits You Can Generate

Each facilitated course earns you 36 PDPs or three graduate credits that you can use towards the advancement of your professional career. The self paced formats earn a half or one credit. Further courses worth two grad credits are currently in development. Graduate credit is granted by MidAmerica Nazarene University, Westfield State University and Gordon College; you’ll get graduate credit from the college of your choice. PDP’s are offered by Westfield State University.
