How Does Commonwealth Learning Online Institute (CLOI) Aid Teachers in Olathe?

As you already know, life as a teacher is a demanding career. When you are in a classroom environment, developing lessons and grading assignments, you don’t have a lot of time to devote to your own development. However, there are several teaching strategies being developed that can help students to do better in skills like writing and reading, if only you had some extra time. This is why Commonwealth Learning Online Institute (CLOI) was launched. As an independent non-profit professional development organization, we give Olathe teachers courses online for improving reading and writing techniques that you can fittingly take when you’ve got the time. The History of CLOI Olathe, KS

Commonwealth Learning Online Institute is part of the Stratford Foundation Inc. which was established in 1986 to help pupils of any age prevail over learning challenges, and educators understand how to do their jobs more effectively. Commonwealth Learning Online Institute was founded in 2010 to provide convenient online professional development to educators and teachers. Our course development started when we combined with a vetted educational enterprise. They helped us set up 6 core facilitated reading courses.

We then searched for universities who’d partner with us and offer graduate credit for our customers. Gordon College was the first to join, and our initial 6 courses became available in 2012. Presently the credit institutions have grown somewhat to include MidAmerica Nazarene University and Westfield State University.

Our online courses are conveniently accessible via a tablet, laptop, desktop, or other mobile device. They’re appropriate for Olathe school curriculum directors, administrators, superintendents and principals and may be used individually or in groups depending upon the prerequisites of your school or district. Regardless of where you’re at in your development, our internet courses enhance your knowledge and sharpen your teaching techniques.

More Information On Online Commonwealth Learning Online Institute Courses

Our ongoing course selection is focused on reading development; special education and writing courses are being developed. They are created to benefit educators of all grades from foundational up to the 12th grade. They’re formulated to help prepare your students for college and way beyond.

Self-Paced Vs. Facilitated Online Courses

CLOI offers 2 online course options to match the level of structure and instruction you want. The self-paced internet courses deliver more freedom as you progress in your own time. It isn’t necessary to complete one lesson before a certain date before progressing to the next. However, a trained facilitator is always there to email with any questions or concerns. Self-paced study courses don’t take so long, generally requiring between 8 and fifteen hours to finish. Our facilitated internet courses deliver more detailed training and should take around seven weeks of study to complete. Contrary to the self-paced option, you will be required to finish each lesson by a certain date before carrying on. A professional, facilitator/instructor directs you through the course and establishes targets which students need to reach before continuing. These courses will take anywhere between fifty and seventy hours to do. Facilitated courses are offered 5 times throughout the year from Jan to Sept.

What Online Course Topics Are Available to Olathe Educators?

Some of our current online courses include Building Vocabulary, Close Reading, Integrating Five Key Reading Skills and Instructing Phonics and Spelling. They’re going to tell you how to help students understand the link between written words on a page and the sound of the words when spoken, increase fluency, expand their vocabulary, and more. These study courses were put together by educational executives for teachers and tutors. They include many suggestions that you’re able to include into your classes.

Earn Credits or Olathe Professional Development Points

One of the main goals of Commonwealth Learning Online Institute is to provide teachers and educators with credits or points which they can put towards getting further accreditation. Each facilitated training course earns you 36 PDPs or three graduate credits that you can use for future development as a teacher, whilst our self-paced training courses earn 1/2 or one grad credit. New courses that are worth two credits are forthcoming. Graduate credits are given by MidAmerica Nazarene University, Gordon College and Westfield State University; you receive graduate credit from whichever college you pick out. Westfield State University provides the PDPs.

Teacher Testimonial

It is amazing that I have been in the field for so long…and am learning these fascinating skills or techniques. I think that even middle and high school trained teachers should have MORE exposure to these foundations. I feel like I was denied a wealth of information due to the fact that I was trained as a middle and high school literature and humanities teacher.
