CLOI’s Journey

In 1986, the Stratford Foundation Inc. was formed with the goal of becoming a valuable educational resource for the community. After establishing the Commonwealth Learning Center in 1988 and the Professional Training Institute in 1992, Stratford came into the 21st century in 2010 when CLOI, the Commonwealth Learning Online Institute, was formed.

Since our early days we have increased our offerings and university partners to meet the needs of educators nationwide. Today our program includes both self-paced and facilitated courses, and our credit offering institutions have expanded to include Gordon College, Westfield State University, and MidAmerica Nazarene University.

After nearly a decade, our commitment to being a valuable professional development resource for the community is stronger than ever, and we work towards this everyday by providing exceptional learning for educators across the country.

The development of our courses commenced when we partnered up with an educational enterprise already vetted in the industry. This organization helped us to set up 6 core reading facilitated courses.

It was then that we hunted for universities who’d partner with us and offer graduate credits that could be used by clients. The first one to join was Gordon College, and our very first six courses went public in 2012. Today our universities offering graduate credits have broadened to include Westfield State University and MidAmerica Nazarene University.

Our online courses are conveniently accessible via a tablet, PC, laptop, or other mobile device. They’re created for Niagara Falls school administrators, superintendents, curriculum directors and principals and can be taken in groups or individually dependant on the prerequisites of the school or district. Our existing course catalog is targeted on the development of reading skills; writing and special education courses are being developed. These are built to benefit teachers of all grade levels from the foundational up to the 12th grade. They’re created to help prepare pupils for college and way beyond.

The Differences Between Facilitated Vs. Self Paced Courses for Educators in Niagara Falls, New York

Our self-paced internet courses may be completed in accordance with your schedule. There are no dates for finishing the lessons; you’re able to study them when you have the time. A trained facilitator is always on hand to resolve any questions or worries that may come up. They will also give you a grading mark if you’re doing the training for credit. Self-paced online courses require somewhere between 8 and 15 hours to accomplish and earn students 1/2 to one PDP credit. They’re open to study any time of the year. Our online solutions present many educational techniques that you could use in your classroom.

Earn Continuing Education Credits For Your Professional Development

On account of our professional development partnerships with MidAmerica Nazarene University, Gordon College and Westfield State University, each CLOI course will earn you PDPs or grad credits that you can use for your professional education. Every facilitated format training course will earn you 36 PDPs or 3 graduate credits while the self-paced format earns a half or one credit. New courses earning 2 grad credits are forthcoming.
