CLOI’s Journey

In 1986, the Stratford Foundation Inc. was formed with the goal of becoming a valuable educational resource for the community. After establishing the Commonwealth Learning Center in 1988 and the Professional Training Institute in 1992, Stratford came into the 21st century in 2010 when CLOI, the Commonwealth Learning Online Institute, was formed.

Since our early days we have increased our offerings and university partners to meet the needs of educators nationwide. Today our program includes both self-paced and facilitated courses, and our credit offering institutions have expanded to include Gordon College, Westfield State University, and MidAmerica Nazarene University.

After nearly a decade, our commitment to being a valuable professional development resource for the community is stronger than ever, and we work towards this everyday by providing exceptional learning for educators across the country.

At present the institutions offering graduate credits have broadened somewhat to include Westfield State University and MidAmerica Nazarene University.

All courses are conveniently accessible by the use of tablet, desktop PC, laptop, or other mobile device. Clay district school principals, administrators, superintendents and curriculum directors have been benefitting from our online offerings. Our web based courses can be used in groups or individually and no matter where you’re at in your teaching development, you’ll find our online offerings expand your knowledge and teaching skills.

More Information On Online CLOI Courses

We presently provide online courses in both facilitated and self-paced set-ups. Online courses for writing and special education are under development. Our courses help educators of all levels from foundational up to the 12th grade. The learning solutions presented in each online course should successfully ready your pupils for college and beyond.

Differences Between Facilitated Vs. Self Paced Online Courses for Educators in Clay, New York

CLOI offers two options for online courses dependant on exactly how much structure and instruction you want. Our self-paced training courses provide more flexibility as you do them in your own time. You’re not required to complete one lesson by a particular date before moving onto the next. However, a facilitator is on hand to e mail with your questions or concerns. These study courses are in addition shorter, usually requiring anywhere between eight and fifteen hrs of study to accomplish. The facilitated courses deliver more comprehensive instruction and take 7 weeks of study to accomplish. Contrary to the self-paced courses, you are expected to finish each lesson by a particular date before moving on to the next. Each individual facilitated format study course will earn you 36 PDPs or 3 graduate credits while the self-paced format earns a half or one credit. New courses for two credits are currently in the pipeline.
