Commonwealth Learning Online Institute was established in 2010 when we noticed that overstretched teachers needed a much more practical option for accessing the courses that we at that time taught on-site. We are proud to be a branch of the Stratford Foundation Inc. that was set up in 1986 to help students of every age group beat their learning struggles, especially in reading and writing. We joined up with an educational enterprise that assisted us in forming 6 core facilitated reading courses.

Next was to join with a few universities in an effort to offer graduate credits to our teachers. Our very first courses (6) went public in 2012. At this time, the institutions offering graduate credits include MidAmerica Nazarene University, Gordon College and Westfield State University.

Our courses are readily available on the internet via a tablet, desktop computer, laptop, or any type of mobile device. Teacher Testimonial

It is amazing that I have been in the field for so long…and am learning these fascinating skills or techniques. I think that even middle and high school trained teachers should have MORE exposure to these foundations. I feel like I was denied a wealth of information due to the fact that I was trained as a middle and high school literature and humanities teacher.
